Rasharkin man appeared in court on Saturday morning accused of offences in Ahoghill

A Rasharkin man appeared at Ballymena Magistrates Court on Saturday morning charged with being a trespasser at a house in Ahoghill with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm.

David John Cairns (29), a driver, of Glebe Road, is also accused of contravening a Non-Molestation Order during an alleged incident at Beechwood Avenue on Friday June 8.

A police officer believed he could connect the defendant to the charges.

Defence solicitor Stewart Ballentine said the defendant’s father was present in court.

The defendant was released on his own bail of £500 and a surety of £750 by District Judge Liam McNally who said it was a “serious” matter.

The accused is not have any contact with two individuals and is not to enter Beechwood Avenue in Ahoghill.

The case was adjourned to June 28.
