THE big glittering teddy bear which caught the eye of thousands during Ballymena’s Christmas lights switch-on has now been spotted in Antrim.
Hundreds of people got their photos taken with the bear at the switch-in in Ballymena last month but some people were disappointed after it emerged that the big ted was only in the town for one night only.
Some people had even travelled from as far away as County Down hoping to see the bear at Broadway in Ballymena except the place where it had been was…bare.
At the time a Mid & East Antrim Borough Council spokesperson told ‘Ballymena Daily’: “Whilst we would have loved to keep the bear in Ballymena for longer, he’s very busy this Christmas across Northern Ireland with lots of other bookings before he goes back into hibernation for the winter.”
Now, however, eagle-eyed locals have spotted what is believed to be the same bear at the Enchanted Winter Garden event which opened in Antrim’s Castle Gardens on Friday and continues for a number of days in the run up to Christmas.
One man told ‘Ballymena Daily’: “That big bear caused quite a stir in Ballymena and it is sure to be a big attraction in Antrim too. Maybe Mid & East Antrim Borough Council could get the bear for longer in Ballymena next year.”
