Anthony Toner is set to take to the stage in Larne Town Hall and it promises to be a night to remember.

It has been a number of years since singer songwriter Anthony Toner played in Larne – and tickets are selling fast for his return on Thursday, February 7.

The singer – famed for his song ‘Sailortown’ – is on the road in a major tour of Northern Ireland, Scotland and England in support of his tenth release, a new collection of songs under the title Our Lady of the Wind and Rain.

Once memorably described as ‘James Taylor meets John Prine in a second hand book shop’, the Coleraine-born performer is revered for live performances that feature between-song patter and stories from the road.

On the whole it’s an engaging evening of intimate acoustic guitar playing, and songs packed with insight and heart.

Along the way he has chalked up a string of memorable songs, including ‘Well Well Well’, ‘The Road to Fivemiletown’, ‘East of Louise’ and recently ‘An Alphabet’, a moving song inspired by his father’s Alzheimer’s condition.

The new album features some of his most upbeat and catchy songs yet, but as always Anthony will also be featuring favourite songs from the back catalogue and a few well-chosen cover songs too, maybe even a rhythm and blues classic here and there.

Expect an evening of peerless guitar playing, storytelling and songs old and new.
