Two arrests made after handbag and purse stolen from vehicle parked at Forest Park whilst couple out for stroll

A window was broken during the incident.

TWO arrests were made following the theft of a handbag and purse from a vehicle parked at Randalstown Forest Park whilst a couple was out for a quiet Sunday walk.

The theft is thought to have occurred between 3:15pm and 4:00pm on Sunday 9th December 2018.

A police spokesperson said: “Please remember to keep valuables hidden, especially any presents in vehicles”.

The Antrim PSNI Facebook page later posted a picture of a broken car window and said: “This is what a couple out a quiet Sunday walk in Randalstown Forest Park returned to see had happened to their car yesterday afternoon.

“Thieving persons (to put it politely 🤔) smashed the window of the car and stole the handbag from within.

“With the help of witnesses and different departments in the police, two arrests were made within 90 minutes of it being reported and thankfully some of the victims property recovered.

“This female has learnt the hard way about leaving belongings in plain sight for opportunistic dishonest people.

“For the rest of us, please take this as a reminder not to leave belongings in your vehicles. Lock it out of sight or better still take them with you!”
