Ulster Unionist Paul Michael is the new Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council

TODAY at Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council’s Annual Meeting, Councillor Paul Michael from the Ulster Unionist Party was elected as the new Mayor.

Councillor Michael will be the First Citizen of the Borough for the 2018/2019 term.

The councillor represents the Airport District Electoral Area (DEA).

Mayor Michael said: “I am delighted to be elected as Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey and look forward to meeting all of the Borough’s residents, schools, local community and voluntary groups throughout the year ahead.”

During the meeting, Alderman John Smyth was also elected as Deputy Mayor for the Borough.

Alderman Smyth represents the Antrim DEA and is from the Democratic Unionist Party.
