A Portrush man who committed insurance and driving licence offences by taking the wheel of a Renault van said he was doing a delivery for a neighbour who makes concrete garden products but had an emergency hospital appointment.

Danny Carroll (37), of Glentaisie Park, was stopped in Portrush on July 26 last year.

At Coleraine Magistrates Court on January 28 he was given six penalty points and fined £300.
