Police in Ballymena saw a woman attempting to parallel park “numerous” times because she was “distracted” by using a mobile phone, the town’s Magistrates Court was told.

Emila Leuz (34), of Dunclug Gardens in Ballymena, admitted a charge of using a mobile phone whilst driving.

She was spotted at Lower Mill Street in the town in October last year using a hand-held mobile phone whilst attempting to parallel park between two vehicles.

In court she said: “My friend was calling me”.

The defendant was fined £100.
