A shoplifter who took her own footwear off and placed them in a bag then stole, and put on, a pair of shoes in Primark in Ballymena’s Tower Centre and walked out without paying.
Kelly Bowles (36), previously with an address of Dunclug Gardens but now of Princes Street in Ballymena, committed the offence on September 15 last year when she also took cosmetics.
The total value of the stolen items was £33.90.
A prosecutor said the defendant had paid for some other items but stole other items including putting shoes on and walking out.
Defence solicitor David McIlrath said his client suffers from depression and anxiety and said she had no previous convictions.
At Ballymena Magistrates Court on November 8, District Judge Nigel Broderick said although for a first time offence it seemed “quite sophisticated” he was going to put it down as a “one-off situation” and fined the defendant £150.
