An 18-year-old Cullybackey man caught using a Peugeot 206 without insurance at Frys Road in Ballymena was asked by a judge why he was not covered and he replied: “I didn’t really think it was a big thing”.
Matthew Gracey, of Markstown Grove, was told by District Judge Nigel Broderick it was “very important” to have insurance.
The detection was made last October and the defendant told Ballymena Magistrates Court on February 7 said he no longer has a car.
He was banned from driving for two months and fined £100.
